Gusttimo @ Orchard Ion

Gusttimo @ Orchard Ion

Exploration of the new in-place in town – Orchard Ion… can be rather harrowing, especially with an endurance shopper like Wifey… Even though it was only 30 minutes into the excursion, I felt the need for sustenance…

A strategic right turn coming out of Miu Miu brought us towards Bally which is just opposite Gusttimo and I refuse to budge until I was fed something sweet – and a kiss is not enough!!…

Gusttimo is rather classy with the high ceiling and the huge chandelier… The staffs are patient, polite and cheery… There was a queue by the Gelato counter probably due to indecisiveness of the patrons with the flavours and the availability of tasters – Imagine each indecisive patron (including myself) test-tasting at least 2 to 3 flavours before deciding… I actually saw someone with 6+ tasting spoons!! The flavours available (list here) are quite extensive, with the majority in the cream family (96% fat free). There were also gelato of the fruit and yogurt family (zero fat).

A cup size of 3 flavours Picolo cost $5.90, or 4 flavours Grande cost $7.80… We decide on the smaller-sized cup… and picked Biscotto (biscuit), Tiramisu (mocha cake) and Caffe (coffee)… The Caffe gelato was average… Equal winners, due to their excellent taste and unique texture, were the Tiramisu and Biscotto… It was so good we actually came back for seconds when I cried for another time out… This time round we ordered another Picolo cup with Mela (green apple), Panna Cotta (Vanilla pudding + macadamia nuts) and Melone (melon). Outright winner was the Panna Cotta with actual macadamia nuts within… Melone was average, but Mela was a tad sourish…

Although indoor seating (less than 20) dedicated to the gelateria was available they were constantly occupied so we chose to take-away on both occasions… Saw a large alfresco dining area outside, but I believe it is for a more solid meal (Antipasto, Pasta, Paninin, Tapas) that is also available at Gusttimo. However, although covered, I still think it may be too hot under the mid-day / afternoon sun (even though claim of a special cooling system for alfresco dining comfort is available on their website)… Not too sure how well it will work at night as it is rather close to the stretch of Scotts road opposite Wheelock Place…

Orchard Ion is huge… We will be back for more shopping… As long as the above statement is true, we will definitely be back to Gusttimo for more of their gelato menu…

My Final Rating: 7.25/10

  1. Judging from the name, I wouldn’t have imagine it to be an ice-cream parlour but rather a posh Italian restaurant…

Pricing seems reasonable considering the food that are sold at basement 4 of Ion is so expensive…

Thank you for sharing, gotta try it out soon…

  2. Indeed… prices of the gelato are quite reasonable considering the location, and comparing it to the general prices of ION B4’s Food Opera and Food Hall…

  3. Ahh must try eh

  4. I thought its not bad… Definitely worth trying (at least the gelato)…

Didn’t try their pasta or tapas… Not really keen to sit outside under the warm weather…

  5. The Formaggio or cream cheese is not bad. Frutti di Bosco is also good if you like fruity sorbets. I want to try the Caramelo next…

  6. Didn’t taste the Formaggio…
Got a small tasting scoop of their Cream Cheese and it was decent, but I was not sure how I’d feel after a full scoop… Felt a tad on the rich side…

Frutti di Bosco is actually high on my “to-try” list…
Ahhh.. gonna crave for Gelato again!!

  7. White Fairy Says:

I shall head down and try it soon, been sick recently and missing on all the sweet yummies. =)

  8. Hey WF…
    Recovered already?
Well… Hope you like the Gelato @ Gusttimo too!

  9. I love gustimmo, especially the kiwi mojito
