Your Woul @ Goldhill Centre

16 MAY 2009

Been a while since we last had Korean food… Happen to came across an advertiser of HGW (Your Woul) with somewhat believable reviews and decided to try it out with wifey…

The closest MRT was Novena, and its a 5 mins walk to Goldhill Centre. However, “Your Woul” was rather hard to find as we were unfamiliar with the area… After asking around, we managed to reach our destination.

The place emanate a rustic feel… It reminded me of a simple Korean eatery we used to visit in Melbourne… We were attended to and it took sometime for us to order as there were too much items we wanted… In the end, after the recommendation of the Chinese waitress, we ordered the “GamJaTang” or the Pork Rib Soup with Potatoes ($39.00).

Waiting in anticipation for the KimChi to arrive… it didn’t… Instead, the pot of soup arrived first and it was HUGE!!

The waitress fired up the gas stove and we soon have some major simmering happening on our table… The smell was fantastic…

Soon after, the KimChi arrived… together with the fat short-grain rice ($1.50 per bowl) that wifey loved… It was great seeing wifey beaming away just on the rice and KimChi… The KimChi was excellent, and so were the rest of the accompanying appetizers…

Next, we moved on to the simmering Pork Rib Soup… To me, the overall taste of the soup was marred by a hint of a distinctive aftertaste of a specific type of dried vegetable used in the dish (totally personal preference)… Otherwise, it’d been an excellent dish… Wifey, however, was enjoying every bowl of the soup… I should’ve taken a picture of the huge empty pot! Anyway, a pot like this is probably enough to feed 3 people (with 2 servings each)…

Plus… considering the KimChi/appetizers were coming in seconds and thirds (with no extra charges)… we were almost like having a KimChi & appetizers buffet!

After we completely devoured everything edible on the table… we were served some refreshing and nice Cinnamon & Ginger Red Date Tea, which we blissfully enjoyed.

In total, the meal cost $47.85, but I reckon we ate enough to feed a couple more! It was totally worth it… We took a few more cups of their nice Korean Rice Tea before ‘wheel-barrowing’ ourselves out, contemplating our next visit… Will have to try out their BBQ stuffs… However, we will have to gather more people for that!!

My Final Rating: 7.25/10
