Revisiting Smoochies…

After the initial Food Tasting at Smoochies, we returned for a nice dinner on a Sat evening (28 FEB 2009) and tried out their 2 & 3 course Set-lunches (17 MAR 2009)

Smoochies really provide a nice environment to hang out and relax… It’s a very cosy place especially with the evergreen 80’s & 90’s music running in the background. Then again, there weren’t any live band when we visited. So if you want a peaceful, quiet, romantic setting, Smoochies (no live band nights) is a great choice. The staffs are always nice, positive and cheery. One of them even remembered me!

Well, I was thinking of ordering some heavy mains… and was particularly looking forward for their Baked Pork Ribs, Rack of Lamb or Char-grilled Ribeye… However, disappointment sets in when we were informed that they had a full-house last night and the main meat dishes were not available this night.

So we move on and settled for Pizza & Pasta. We went for a Delights Platter ($12.00) to share, a Fettucine Julienne ($16.00) and a Pizza Al Funghi($12.00). I ordered an alcoholic cocktail for wifey “Velvet“ ($14.00) and a Warm Chocolate Lava Cake ($14.00) for dessert…

I will keep the food review short as they have been reviewed before…

Delights Platter

Delights Platter

Delights Platter (Rating: 7/10)
Basically a platter of deep-fried finger-food such as spring rolls, samosas, and chicken wings. The chicken wings are still as nice as before. A rather healthy serving (if you see from the picture below) for two to share!

Fettucine Julienne

Fettucine Julienne (Rating: 8.5/10)
I passed on the Fettucine Juliennebut was glad we ordered it this time. It’s usually cooked with tomato sauce, but wifey wanted something creamy. The waitress said that could be easily done. The Fettucine was al dente. The taste and texture of the creamy sauce was perfectly done and the chucks of sliced beef were cooked just right for it to retain its juiciness! Bravo!!

Pizza Al Funghi

The pizza was nice, and actually quite a good one for $12.00. Very enjoyable…

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake (7/10)
Now, this time round, the dessert was a little disappointing. Firstly, it took sometime before it was served. When it came, the chocolate lava cake was excellent and the fruits were fresh… I had a slight issue with the ice-cream which should have been of better quality. I have since let the management know about it and they are aware.

The night came up to $74.15 (including 50% discount on the main of lesser value).

On this day, we checked out their set-lunches. A 2-course set lunch cost $9.90++ or a 3-course set lunch at $17.90++. For the 2 course set lunch, you get a choice of soup or salad and a Spaghetti. For the 3-course set, you get a choice of soup or salad, a choice of mains – Spaghetti, chicken cutlet or a vegetarian dish, and a dessert.

We ordered a 2-course and a 3-course set lunch to share.

The food was excellent as always, but being a relatively big eater, I thought the serving could be a little more generous (directed at the serving size of the Soup, Spaghetti and dessert). The Salad was ample, and the chicken cutlet was actually huge! Then again, it may just be PERFECT for the health conscious little eater!!

Well, I paid a little over $30.00 for a feed to got me to ¾ full… Bottom line, I won’t mind paying a little more for good quality food and leaving as fuller person…

My Final Rating: 7.75/10
