7atenine...

7atenine...

Lunch unlimited… @ 7atenine was a rather wondrous experience… Basically, you get to stuff yourself silly with the chef’s masterful creations that is not just enticing to the palate, but also pleasing to the eye. This is not your typical buffet, and there are over 20 different tapas on the menus. Alas, we did not get to try all of them. On this trip, we managed 16 (by my count) and we were pretty full by then. I did not agree with all the dishes, but for $37++, I think it is well worth the money!

The ‘juice’ were unlimited too, there were cranberry, lime, orange, pineapple… and I ranked them as such: Orange = Pineapple > Cranberry > Lime. Ambiance was wonderful… Its a great place to impress… and on this day, the service was great…

Now… Beware… Food Porn from here on…

Appetisers

Shrimp & Mango Salad

Shrimp & Mango Salad

Shrimp & Mango Salad

Shrimp & Mango Salad

Shrimp & Mango salad was refreshing. we liked it very much. Overall: 7.5/10

Salmon Sauerkraut

Salmon Sauerkraut

Salmon Sauerkraut was very nicely presented. Fresh salmon wrapped around tangy tasting red cabbage, topped with gigantic roes… Delightful!! Overall: 7.75/10

Mini Veg Tempura in Tomato Soup

Mini Veg Tempura in Tomato Soup

Mini Veg Tempura in Tomato Soup – I don’t exactly know the name for this… I don’t even know for sure if it is a tomato soup… but it is all right. I liked the way it was presented. Overall: 7/10

Anchovies and Fresh Mozzarella with Pesto

Anchovies and Fresh Mozzarella with Pesto

Anchovies and Fresh Mozzarella with Pesto – Full marks for presentation… Alas, we don’t like our Mozzarella like this… Pesto was nice. Overall: 6/10

Ham and Cheese with cubes of green Apple

Ham and Cheese with cubes of green Apple

Ham & Cheese with cubes of green Apple – Another wonderfully presented dish… However, we did not like to have another cheese dish right after the last one… Overall: 5.75/10

Beef Roll on Hot Stone

Beef Roll on Hot Stone

Beef Roll on Hot Stone – Found this to be rather interesting… Taste wise, it wasn’t striking. Overall: 6.25/10

At this point, the server told us that all the starters are served, and will be moving into the mains… Damn I just can’t wait to see the goodies that’s coming our way!!

Mains

Black Squid Risotta

Black Squid Risotta

Black Squid Risotto – When it was served, wifey was like “WT…..F!!?” I was immediately assigned to taste it and report back… I took a deep breath and tasted the ominous looking thing… and was TRANSPORTED to seventh heaven!! “WOW” It was REALLY GOOD!! The risotto was smooth & creamy… tasty… We were very impressed… It would’ve been perfect if the risotto was served with Squid rings instead of just the tentacles… Overall: 8.75/10

Grilled Sea Bass?

Baked Sea Bass?

Seared/Baked Sea Bass?– Didn’t manage to catch the name of the dish. We were torn. On one hand, the lightly marinated fish was nicely seared/baked… Crisp on the top, it was pretty sweet and succulent within. However, there is a hint of Indian spice within the pumpkin-like mash which put this whole thing into the weird zone. Either love it or hate it… I was ok with what they done with it… Wifey stayed away from the mis-matched mash… Overall: 6.5/10

Sizzling Wings

Sizzling Wings

Sizzling Wings – Can’t go wrong with wings. The pegs… err what’s that for? The mayo was a nice addition tho… Overall: 6.75/10

Spaghetti with Ham

Spaghetti with Bacon

Spaghetti with Bacon– The spaghetti here was pretty decent. The thinly slice bacon was pretty good… Overall: 7.25/10

Beautiful slice of tender juicy lamb with Mashed Potatoes

Beautiful slice of tender juicy lamb with Mashed Potatoes

Lamb with Mashed Potatoes– OH GAWD… This has to be ranked with one of the best tasting lamb I ever tasted… Nicely done, it was tender and juicy… Absolutely well done!! To me it was the winner for the day… Overall: 9.5/10

Beef with Mashed Potatoes and grilled onion

Beef with Mashed Potatoes and grilled onion

Beef with Mashed Potatoes & Grilled Onion– Hmm… To me, it seemed to be done rather similarly as the previous lamb dish. Alas, the beef was not as tender. Wifey complained of a certain beefy taste which I am never aware of… Overall: 7/10

Beef Flank with Yam/Cheese

Beef Flank with Yam/Cheese

Beef Flank with Yam/Cheese– Now, this final dish was actually pretty disappointing. The beef flank was way too tough. The mini Yam/Cheese stack was rather bland, but seriously, plus 1 for effort in making the mini Yam/Cheese tower…. Overall: 5.5/10

By this time, I was fulled. However, wifey did skipped a couple of dishes and I made her order another serve of Sizzling wings. She really should have ordered that awesome Risotto!!

Desserts –

Chocolate Brownies with large macadamia nuts

Chocolate Brownies with large macadamia nuts

Chocolate Brownies with large macadamia nuts– Amongst the three dessert, this was probably the best. The brownies tasted great, each filled with huge macadamia nuts! Even though I was filled to the brim… I actually had another mini serving of this… Overall: 7.75/10

Strawberry ice cream and Jelly

Strawberry ice cream and Jelly

Strawberry ice cream with Jelly– This dessert was a close second compared to the brownie. It was very subtle. It’d be perfect to end the buffet with this… … Overall: 7.5/10

Choc/Apple & Pear creation– By the time this dessert came around, we were totally ‘fried’… Well… at least I was… The liquid dark choc within chocolate shell is too bitter for my likings, and the semi mashed apple and sliced pear was nothing spectacular… Overall: 6/10

Choc/Apple/Pear creation?

Choc/Apple/Pear creation?

To me, ‘lunch unlimited‘ @ 7atenine equates tapas presented like artistic fine cuisine, meet ‘eat-till-you-drop’ buffet… and  @ $37++, it is indeed value for money. Although not all items scored well, I think its acceptable considering the amount of creation we consumed. I was a little disappointed we did not get to see all 20+, but then again, we were pretty full by the end of the 16 items (6 Appetizers, 7 Mains, 3 Desserts).

My Final Rating: 8/10
