Olive Vine Pasta Fusion @ Great World City

B1-16/17 in Great World City
03 JAN 2009
Great World City… was rather obscure to me until recently… Now that I know the place better, it feels like an Oasis of sorts lying just outside the city fringe…
There are many of restaurants there, but right now I find myself returning to Olive Vine Pasta Fusion (Stall 19) within the Food Junction in the basement (B1-16/17) every time I am in Great World City.
One of the cooks (a Chinese National I suspect) was very sporting… As soon as he saw me with my camera, he threw up a huge flame-wave whilst creating his pesto sauce!! FLAME ON!!
Its actually quite a sight!!

Free Fire Show...
There are quite a few options on their menu ranging from Creamy pasta to Olive rice to Chicken Cutlets between $5.90 – $8.90 and snacks like fish bites $4.90 and french fries $2.90…
Granted that this is within food court, I reckon the pasta served there are pretty decent…

Spaghetti Arrabiata with Chicken
Al Dante spaghetti presented with nice flavorsome spicy pasta sauce with strong garlic presence. The chicken pieces was not too bad, but was a tad oily.

Spaghetti Pesto with Bacon & Italian Sausage
The strong garlic pesto was excellent and the spaghetti was Al Dante. Alas, there were only a few chucks of bacon & Italian sausages, and they tasted great. How I wish the serve would’ve been slightly larger.

Creamy Spaghetti Al Funghi
Out of their pasta menus, there are 3 creamy ones including Spaghetti Al Funghi (Mushroom in Cream Sauce – $6.90), Fish Fillet with Fettuccine in Cream Sauce ($6.90), and Creamy Pesto with Bacon & Italian Sausage ($8.90). Their creamy pastas are definitely a must try.

Mushroom Soup with Garlic and Herb Bread
The place also serves a Mushroom Soup with Garlic & Herb Bread combo for $4.00. If you order the soup and bread with any of their mains, it can be added for $2.00 as a set. However, its really nothing to shout about… Another of their side is their french fries. Thin and crisp, the fries are served with a nice Tartare sauce.
We will be returning for sure… will be trying their Olive Rice, Fish Bites… ahhh so many to try!!
My Final Rating: 7/10

I went to Olive vine cafe at Pahang. cheap and reasonably good food ahr…the waitress told me no service charge, no gst, and the food is also no added MSG….which is true, 8 of us went, we ordered main dish, soup and drinks and our bill only came up to less than $90 (super worth it) and must try the 1 lit watermelon juice, Aglio Olio with Pork Steak. Crispy Chicken Arrabiata.
