Tiong Bahru Market

Finally… stumbled upon the exact location of Tiong Bahru Market & Food Center on my way to CentrePS a few days back. Frankly, we never knew this part of Tiong Bahru and this is probably due to the fact that we hardly go beyond Tiong Bahru MRT and Tiong Bahru Plaza.

This relatively new market was recently upgraded in 2006 and I heard it houses several nice hawker stalls… I guess we will be coming here more often in search of those hidden gems.

Kampong Carrot Cake

The carrot cake here is probably as good as any others you can get elsewhere, but I do prefer my fried carrot cake chunky… and/or crispy… Hence I won’t be raving about this one.

Fried Carrot Cake - $2.50

Available in $2.00, $2.50, $3.00 and $4.00, their serve was relatively large for $2.50! I wonder how many people can $4.00 worth of Kampong Carrot Cake feed!! The carrot cakes there come in both the white & black version… but I always prefer mine black – love the sweet thick black sauce – and their… well… was decent enough. But like I said, chunkier and/or crispier would have been perfect for me. What I really like about this place was that self service applies to their spring onions too!!
