Popeye’s Fried Chicken @ Airport T1
30 OCT 2008
Awaiting our flight to HK, we were looking around for something light to eat. There were many choices, but we finally decided on Popeye’s… even though the queue seemed long. Why activate only 1 counter during peak hour? Pffft…
After sometime, we got our light lunch… A chicken burger, 3-pieces chicken with biscuit, upsized both the drink and their mashed potatoes to share…
I think the turnover of their chicken pieces is rather fast, so we were given piping hot crispy chicken. I must say, their stuff was finger-licking good! I’d say it was as good as KFC if not better. The upsized mashed potato (2 large scoops) was quite nice, and I think it all lies within their unique Cajun gravy…
This meal came with their signature biscuit, and it was quite disappointing this time round. Last time I tried their biscuit, it was much better (without the obvious floury taste).
The weakest link… was their burger… If I run a fastfood/burger chain, I’d be really ashamed to serve something like this… Basically, its a just a bun with a piece of fried chicken breast, a few weak strand of chopped lettuce (don’t seem very fresh), with a blob of mayonnaise… I think I can make a better chicken burger. Very disappointing indeed!!
Overall, their fried chicken and mashed potatoes were very nice. There seemed to be some inconsistency in the standard of their biscuits. Their chicken burger totally cannot make it, and if I ever return, I’d stick to their chicken pieces!
