Kohi Ten – Tokyo Cafe Culture
Today, we went to Robinson @ CentrePoint VERY early in the morning for a mini event organised by Lancome. The initial promise of free Lancome samples resulted in spending of over $200.00! Nice marketing! But that entitled Wifey to more free gifts… As long as she’s happy!! Anyway, after the brief event, we headed over to the newly revamped Cuppage Terrace in search of some breakfast… and decided on the cozy/classy looking Japanese Cafe “Kohi Ten” which we walked pass a couple of months ago.
“Kohi Ten” means coffee shop in Japanese. The place has a very cosy and relaxing feel to it, especially with the nice soothing light Jazzy music running in the background. The lady lead-staff (possibly boss?) is not only patient, attentive, but is also very hospitable. She actually struck up a nice conversation with us and we are rather hard nutz to crack…
We ordered two of their set breakfast promotion (free orange juice or free coffee). Initially, we wanted the orange juice since I had my double dose of coffee at home and at the Lancome event… but the lady lead-staff insisted that I try their coffee, their siphon brewed coffee, from quality Ueshima Coffee Co. (UCC) beans. Apparently, this brewing method produces aromatic coffee with a cleaner, crispier, richer, yet smoother flavour. Hmmm… After ordering, I studied their menu further, and indeed, there are two whole pages of beverages just on coffees (one on Espresso Brew and the other on Siphon Brew).

Toast with Poached Egg and Salad
Thinking of having a light breakfast, this was just right for me. Nothing spectacular, but have to comment that their lightly toasted thick toast is very nice. Salad was fresh with a touch of salad dressing. Poached Egg was perfectly done.

Veal Bratwurst
Wifey ordered the Veal Bratwurst and as usual, I ended up having 55% of the Bratwurst (main reason I ordered a lighter breakfast set… Muwaahaha!!). It was nice. Their scrambled egg was all right, but I preferred mine not as dry. Wifey also liked their lightly toasted thick bread.
This is a place I’d definitely come back again. Perhaps not for its breakfast… I’d return to try some of their other siphon-brewed coffee or some of their lunch promotion if I am around the area. Their Hamburg Curry Rice, and Salmon Spinach Penne Gratin came highly recommended. Some of their cakes looked very appealing as well!
