Makan @ Clementi Food Market…

Had lunch @ Clementi Food Market (Clementi Ave. 3, Blk 448) today with Wifey…

Clementi Food Market @ Ave. 3 (Blk 448)

There are a few rather nice stalls here. Today, I had their Char Kway Teow, and wifey ordered from a Ba Chor Mee (Rice Noodle varient). Initally, we wanted to try one of the carrot cake stall there, but old uncle seems to be packing up. So we stuck to the two items we tried before.

Teo Soon Heng Fried Kway Teow

Teo Soon Heng Fried Kway Teow [#01-14]

Been here twice so far over the last month, and both times I asked for my order to be fried ‘darker’. A choice between $2.50 and $3.00, which will obviously give you a larger serving. With the larger serving, there are added green leafy veg, and a few prawns.

$3.00 served in a white oval plate

$2.50 served in a green round plate

The ‘wetness’ of the fried kway teow here is just nice (not too wet). However, it lacked the wok hei which would have made it much nicer. Either sizes give you ample cockles. The crunchy pork lard pieces are the killers… ahhh… SINFULLY enjoyable!!

My Final Rating: 7.5/10

Ming Ji Bar Chor Mee

Ming Ji Bar Chor Mee [#01-11]

Wifey tried their Bar Chor Hor Fun, but to me its more like Bar Chor Kway Teow. Bah! Its really not THAT much different! Most importantly is that it must taste nice. For $3.00, other than the pork minced meat, there were also pork liver, pork ball, braised mushrooms and fried wanton. The mixture of Ming Ji sauces was subtle but nice. Their braised mushrooms were very flavoursome. Wifey loved it very much… both times!

Clementi You Tiao

Clementi You Tiao

Another favourite of mine is the You Tiao. The turnover for their You Tiao is very high, and so you’re likely to get fresh piping hot You Tiao ! These are BEST consumed immediately there and then, but do be weary of their ‘heatiness’.

$0.60 each... FRESH!

My Final Rating: 7/10

Fong’s Special Chicken Curry Puff [#01-45]

Childhood Fav!!

Basically, I grew up on these Chicken Curry Puff. The taste of their curry puff remained exactly the same over these years. Freshly made, they cost $0.90 each. Their pastry are crisp, and not flakey. Each curry puff is consistantly fully packed with delicious chicken curry and potatoe fillings. A slice of egg in each of the curry puff adds depth! We always try to go early if we want to get some, as their curry puffs usually run out by the late afternoon.

My Final Rating: 7.75/10
